Yuxin Chen researches probabilistic reasoning and machine learning. His work examines automated decision-making problems that arise in scientific discovery, robotics, and human-centered systems, asking how machines can intelligently interact with the environment to acquire information and adaptively make decisions. To address this question, Chen develops interactive machine learning systems that involve active learning and machine teaching.
Chen received his PhD in computer science from ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology), and was a postdoctoral scholar at the California Institute of Technology. He was a recipient of a Google European Doctoral Fellowship in Interactive Machine Learning, the Swiss National Science Foundation Early Postdoc Mobility Fellowship, and the PIMCO Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computing and Mathematical Sciences.
