Xuanyao Liu’s research focuses on understanding the genetic basis of complex traits and diseases by developing statistical methods and analyzing genomic and transcriptomic data. Her interests include studying polygenic selection underlying complex traits and disease, detecting trans gene regulation, building gene regulatory networks, and disease gene mapping.
Her work has been published in Cell, American Journal of Human Genetics, European Journal of Human Genetics, International Journal of Scientific Reports, Human Genetics, and BMC Genomics.
Liu completed her PhD at the National University of Singapore, after which she served as a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Most recently, she was a research assistant professor in the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Chicago.
