
William Gao

William Gao specializes in minimally invasive, in-office treatments, including vocal cord injections, laser procedures, and electromyography-guided laryngeal Botox injections. His expertise extends to voice restoration surgery, voice-preserving laser removal of voice box cancers, airway reconstruction, and surgical treatments for swallowing disorders. He also serves as the director of the Voice and Swallowing Center at Orland Park.
Gao’s research focuses on innovative surgical techniques, novel laryngeal injectables, and advancing care for laryngeal dystonia. His work has been published in Journal of Voice; Laryngoscope; Annals of Otology, Rhinology, and Laryngology; Journal of the American Medical Association Facial Plastic Surgery; Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery; Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia; and Anesthesia and Analgesia.
He received his MD from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia after completing a six-year accelerated premedical/medical program in conjunction with Pennsylvania State University. He completed a residency in otolaryngology—head and neck surgery at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, where he was selected as administrative chief in his last year. He subsequently completed a fellowship in laryngology at the University of Southern California.
