Vasyl Hereha is a palliative medicine specialist whose scholarly interests include clinician wellness and resilience, moral distress, and discovering calling and meaning in the practice of medicine. His clinical interests include cancer-associated cachexia, complementary medicine, and hospice care.
Hereha holds a BS in biology from Union College and an MD from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. He completed his family medicine residency at Amita Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in Chicago, where he was honored with its Chief Resident Recognition Award, as well as a Resident Teaching Award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. He then completed a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at the University of Chicago Medicine.
