Timothy Plackett

Assistant Professor
Department of Surgery

Timothy Plackett performs investigative research in the field of pre-hospital trauma care, surgical critical care, burns, and combat casualty care. He has experience performing or overseeing surgery in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia.

His work has been published in the Journal of Surgical Research, Journal of Osteopathic Medicine, Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, Military Medicine, Journal of Special Operations Medicine, Current Trauma Reports, Journal of Trauma Acute Care Surgery, Journal of Burn Care and Research, American Journal of Surgery, Critical Care Medicine, Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Advanced Wound Care, and Aerospace Medicine and Human Performance.

Plackett received a BS in biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Midwestern University. He completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the Tripler Army Medical Center, and fellowships in surgical critical care and trauma outcomes at Loyola University Medical Center. He earned a master of public health with a certificate in disaster management from Benedictine University.
