Srinath Yeshwant is a cardiologist with a focus on cardiac electrophysiology—a specialty that provides care for patients with heart rhythm issues. He studies the mechanisms of atrial fibrillation and develops new tools to use during cardiac ablation. Along with his clinical practice, Yeshwant enjoys teaching and is very involved in the instruction of the next generation of cardiologists. He has received several teaching awards for his efforts.
His research has been published in EP Europace, Journal of Cardiac Failure, HeartRhythm Case Reports, Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine, American Journal of Roentgenology, Radiology, and Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Yeshwant earned a BS in bioengineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He received an MD from Rush Medical College and completed a residency in internal medicine at Rush University. He then pursued fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Vermont Medical Center. Prior to joining the University of Chicago, he served concurrently as a cardiac electrophysiologist at the University of Illinois Chicago Hospital and Health Sciences System and as the director of cardiac electrophysiology at the Jesse Brown Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Chicago.
