Department of Neurology
Scott Mendelson specializes in acute stroke care, telestroke consultation, and stroke prevention. He has clinical interest in the prevention and treatment of cardioembolic stroke and cerebral venous thrombosis. His research focuses on disparities in stroke care and on communication around acute stroke therapies.
His work has been published in Neurology, Stroke, and Neurology Clinical Practice. He has received funding from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to study the informed consent process for tissue-plasminogen activator (tPA) in stroke.
Mendelson earned his PhD in neurobiology and his MD from the University of Chicago, where he also completed his residency and served as chief neurology resident. He then completed a vascular neurology fellowship and a stroke outcomes research fellowship at Northwestern University, before joining the faculty at Northwestern Medicine in 2017.
