Rohan Katipally

Assistant Professor
Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology

Rohan Katipally is a radiation oncologist specializing in the treatment of head and neck and gastrointestinal cancers. His research interests include early phase clinical trials, molecular biomarkers that correlate with prognosis or response to treatment, and the mechanisms that underlie metastasis development, including oligometastases. He serves clerkship director for medical students rotating in the Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology.

Katipally’s work has been published in JAMA Oncology; Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology; Clinical Cancer Research; International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics; and JCO Precision Oncology.

He graduated magna cum laude with a BS in applied mathematics and biology from Brown University, and earned his MD at Brown’s Warren Alpert Medical School. He completed an internship in internal medicine and a radiation oncology residency at the University of Chicago, where he served as chief resident. During his residency, he completed a fellowship in clinical medical ethics at the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics.
