Ramon Nogueira Manas

Assistant Professor
Department of Neurobiology and the College

Ramon Nogueira Manas’s research focuses on characterizing the geometry of neural representations in the high-dimensional neural state space to understand the computational support of artificial and biological cognition. He combines mathematical modelling with tools from machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to shed light onto the connection between brain activity and behavior, and contribute to the emerging field of neuroAI.

His research has been published in Nature Neuroscience, Cell, Neuron, Journal of Neuroscience, Nature Communications, Molecular Psychiatry, Trends in Neurosciences, Current Opinion in Neurobiology, and PLoS Computational Biology.

He earned a BSc with honors in physics and an MSc in theoretical physics from the Universitat de Barcelona. He received a PhD in theoretical and computational neuroscience from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. He then completed his postdoctoral training at the Center for Theoretical Neuroscience at Columbia University.
