Phillip Dowzicky

Phillip Dowzicky is a board-certified trauma surgeon who specializes in the care of complex surgical emergencies and life-threatening traumatic injuries, to provide optimal treatment in both the operating room and the intensive care unit. His research focuses on designing health care systems that provide patients and families with value-based care throughout their surgical experience.

His work has been published in Annals of Surgery, JAMA Surgery, Journal of Surgical Education, Journal of Surgical Research, Surgery, Trauma Surgery & Acute Care Open, World Journal of Surgery, and Circulation Research.

Dowzicky received a BS in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University and an MD from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed a general surgery residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship in surgical critical care and a concurrent MS in health policy research at the Perelman School of Medicine.
