Nabarun Deb’s research interests include statistical inference under dependent data (time series, networks, etc.), statistical machine learning with emphasis on optimal transport, and nonparametric inference.
His research has been published in Neural Information Processing Systems, Journal of the American Statistical Association, Journal of Machine Learning Research, Bernoulli, and Annals of Applied Probability.
Deb earned a BA with honors and an MA in statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute, in Kolkata, India, followed by a PhD in statistics from Columbia University. Most recently, he was the inaugural Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences Kantorovich Initiative Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver.
