
Melissa Tjota

Melissa Tjota is a pathologist who specializes in molecular genetic pathology. Her research focuses on cancer genomics and anti-tumoral immunity. She will be devoting her energy and skills toward the continued growth of the University of Chicago Medicine’s personalized medicine program.
Her work has been published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, Nature Communications, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Modern Pathology, American Journal of Surgical Pathology, American Journal of Clinical Pathology, Human Pathology, and other journals.
Tjota received a BA summa cum laude in biochemical sciences from Harvard University. She earned an MD from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and a PhD from the committee on immunology at the University of Chicago. She completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Chicago, as well as a fellowship in molecular genetic pathology through a joint program between the University of Chicago and NorthShore University HealthSystem.
