Margarita Guarin

Department of Pediatrics

Margarita Guarin is a pediatric pulmonologist whose clinical interests include chronic lung diseases and small airway disease in patients ranging from premature infants to older children. After treating many infants with complex congenital disorders, children with asthma, and patients with gastroesophageal reflux that affects lung health, she has developed a multidisciplinary approach as an aerodigestive pulmonologist. She joins the Pediatric Aerodigestive Clinic at the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital.

She has presented her work at the Conference of the Society for Pediatric Research and the American Thoracic Society International Conference.

Guarin received her MD from the Industrial University of Santander in Colombia. She completed a pediatric internship, residency, and pediatric pulmonary fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee. She also completed a second fellowship in pediatric critical care at the University of Utah. Most recently, she was an assistant professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria.
