Maggie Shi

Assistant Professor
Harris School of Public Policy

Maggie Shi is a health economist who studies how policy decisions shape provider and patient behavior, and the implications for health care cost and quality. She has worked on how Medicare regulation shapes hospital and provider decision-making, whether efforts to reduce wasteful health care spending harm patients, and how health care regulation interacts with individual labor market outcomes.

Her research will soon be published in Quarterly Journal of Economics and Review of Economics and Statistics.

Shi graduated magna cum laude with a BA from Rice University and received her PhD in economics from Columbia University. She was a postdoctoral fellow in aging and health research at the National Bureau of Economic Research, where she is now a faculty research fellow.
