Hyung Sun Choi

Hyung Sun Choi is a board-certified anesthesiologist and critical care medicine specialist with interests in coagulopathy during liver transplant, patient safety measures during perioperative care, and living donor liver transplantation. As a living donor who was able to donate part of his liver to his father, Choi is a passionate advocate for organ donation.

His work has been presented at the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and International Liver Transplantation Society. He has also authored chapters in several anesthesiology textbooks.

Choi received his MD from the Catholic University of Korea. He completed a general surgery internship at Mayo Clinic and a residency in anesthesiology at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. He then completed a critical care medicine fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and a fellowship in transplant anesthesiology at Columbia University Medical Center. Most recently he was an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York.
