
Elaine Tanhehco

Elaine Tanhehco’s primary focus is on diagnostic neuroradiology, with academic interests in brain tumor imaging and biology. She has investigated the effects of ultrasound treatment on brain tumor imaging characteristics and the application of artificial intelligence for triaging neurologic emergencies.
She pursued a research career in cardiovascular pharmacology prior to starting medical school. She also co-founded a pre-clinical toxicology contract research organization, where she served as chief scientific officer. Her work has been presented at national and international conferences and published in such peer-reviewed journals as the American Journal of Physiology.
Tanhehco earned a BS in cell and molecular biology and a PhD in pharmacology from the University of Michigan, and a medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. She completed a transitional year at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, Michigan, followed by a radiology residency at Ascension St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, and a neuroradiology fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
