Christopher Lehmann specializes in infectious diseases in both adults and children. His research aims to better understand the interaction between the microbiome and drug-resistant bacteria, to help reverse the damage caused by antibiotics, and to restore the healthy balance between the microbiome and people.
His research has been published in Cell Host & Microbe, Nature Microbiology, Nature Communications, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, Clinical Infectious Diseases, Annual Review in Microbiology, and Open Forum Infectious Diseases. He is currently authoring a microbiology and infectious diseases textbook.
Lehmann graduated magna cum laude with a BS in microbiology from Colorado State University. He earned an MD from Indiana University, while simultaneously studying HIV and Ebola at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He pursued a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Indiana University, where he also completed a certification in global health. He subsequently completed fellowships in adult and pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Chicago, at which time he was selected as the chief fellow.
