Cecilia Ong

Cecilia Ong is a surgical oncologist who specializes in performing both traditional and minimally invasive surgical procedures, including Whipple and distal pancreatectomies, gastrectomy, and liver resection and ablation. Her expertise also extends to managing cancers that have originated in or spread to the lining of the abdomen. To treat these conditions, she employs such advanced therapies as cytoreduction and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Her research focuses on identifying molecular and cellular biomarkers to enhance the ability to customize treatments based on the disease.
Her work has been published in Annals of Surgery, Journal of Surgical Oncology, Cancer, and Annals of Surgical Oncology.
Ong earned a BS in molecular and cellular biology from Yale University. She received her MD from Duke University School of Medicine, where she also completed a surgical residency. She then completed a fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Chicago.
