Amber Johnson

Amber Johnson’s research interests explore the interface of health equity, social determinants of health, and mobile health technology. Her clinical interests focus on general and preventative cardiology, women’s health, and gender-affirming care.

Her work has been published in Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of the American Heart Association, Perfusion, Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association Network Open, Journal of Vascular Surgery, Clinical Cardiology, Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and American Heart Journal Plus: Cardiology Research and Practice.

Johnson graduated magna cum laude with a BS in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, where she also earned an MS in clinical research. She received her MD from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, and an MBA from Widener University. She completed an internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and a cardiology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Most recently, she was an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh, and a faculty affiliate at the Center on Race and Social Problems at its School of Social Work.
