Varun Malhotra specializes in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, a condition that damages the optic nerve and can cause permanent and painless loss of vision. He offers comprehensive care for eye disease and is an expert in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, including laser therapy. In addition to his clinical expertise, he has conducted research to evaluate various treatment solutions for eye disease, in order to identify the best methods that improve patient experience and overall outcomes. He serves as director of University of Chicago Medicine’s Glaucoma Service.

Malhotra received his MD from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at MacNeal Hospital and his residency at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital. He also completed a fellowship at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary/University of Illinois College of Medicine.
