Matthew Emerton

Matthew Emerton’s areas of research are number and representation theory and algebraic geometry. He is coauthor of “Completed Cohomology, Local-Global Compatibility in the p-Adic Langlands Programme for GL2/Q” and “On a Class of Coherent Rings, with Applications to the Smooth Representation Theory of GL2(Qp) in Characteristic p.”

He received a research grant from the National Science Foundation for his project “p-Adic Aspects of the Langlands Program.”

Emerton earned his PhD from Harvard University and a BS (honors) from the University of Melbourne.

Emerton joined the University of Chicago faculty in 2011.
