Juliana Bueno is a cardiothoracic radiologist with particular interests in lung transplantation, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary infections in the immunocompromised host, and congenital heart disease.
She has been an active member, participant, and speaker at national meetings held by the Society of Thoracic Radiology and serves on its education and electronic media committees. She is also a member of the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, and the Colombian Society of Radiology.
Bueno received her medical doctorate from the Universidad de La Sabana School of Medicine in Bogotá, Colombia. She completed a radiology residency program with the Fundación Clínica Valle del Lilí in Cali, Colombia, and a cardiothoracic imaging fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. Most recently, she was an assistant professor of radiology and thoracic imaging at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where she was recognized with the Charles J. Tegtmeyer Award for Clinical Excellence and the Paul M. Dee Teacher of the Year Award. She also served as co-director of its cardiothoracic imaging fellowship program and director of its thoracic imaging undergraduate medical education program. Bueno has also been a visiting faculty member at Mbarara University of Science and Technology and Makerere University, both in Uganda.
