Ellen Choi’s primary areas of clinical interest are pediatric anesthesia, neonatal anesthesia, and anesthetic neurotoxicity in children. She is a clinician-educator with specific interest in medical simulation, currently serving as the fellowship director as well as the resident rotation director in pediatric anesthesia.
Her work has been published in Pediatric Anesthesia and Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience. She is the co-author of book chapters that will soon be published in A Practical Approach to Pediatric Anesthesia and the forthcoming Essentials of Anesthesia for Infants and Neonates.
Choi received her BA in molecular and cell biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and earned her MD from the University of California, San Francisco. She completed her internship and residency training in anesthesiology at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she also served as chief resident in anesthesiology. She then completed a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital. Most recently, she was an assistant clinical professor in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles.
