Sirtaz Adatya is a cardiologist, with particular interests in heart transplantation, heart failure, and ventricular assist devices. His clinical interests are in athletes, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and mechanical circulatory support. He has published numerous articles focusing on anticoagulation in mechanical hearts and therapy for advanced heart failure.
His research has appeared in a number of peer-reviewed publications, including the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Heart Failure, the Journal of Cardiac Failure, and the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
Adatya earned his MD from Ross University School of Medicine, in Dominica. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut, where he also served as chief resident. In addition, he completed a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Connecticut, followed by a fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant at Columbia University Medical Center, in New York. He was previously an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
