Chao Gao’s scholarly work is focused on nonparametric and high-dimensional statistics, and statistical foundations of Bayes analysis. His thesis topic was on frequentist justifications for Bayes procedures. His current research interests include network analysis, robust statistics, and shape constraint estimation.

His research has been published in the Annals of Statistics.

Gao earned a BS in mathematics and statistics from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. He holds an MA and PhD in statistics from Yale University.
