Zehra N. Aftab’s clinical and research interests include consult-liaison psychiatry and community psychiatry. She manages the inpatient psychiatry academic service at the University of Chicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital. Her clinical endeavors include starting a women’s mental health clinic, developing relationships with primary providers in the community, and providing pre-transplant psychiatric evaluations. Aftab serves as the assistant program director of the Adult Residency Program for Psychiatry.
Aftab received an MD from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University at Buffalo. She then completed her training in general psychiatry at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She completed a fellowship in psychosomatic medicine at the University of Chicago Medicine, where she was also a fellow at the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics.
