Thomas Chen is interested in health disparities within the Asian population, pharmacogenomics, and hospital medicine. He has a particular interest in the medication reconciliation process, cost-effective prescribing, and quality improvements that decrease costs of care and improve health outcomes. He is also interested in medical education.

He received his MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago and completed his residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins University. Prior to becoming a physician, he received a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois and worked as a pharmacy technician and pharmacist for eight years.
