Pratik Shah’s academic interests include understanding risk factors for BK viremia in kidney transplant recipients with a particular focus on human leukocyte antigen (HLA). He is also interested in studying the role of gut microbiota in infectious and immunological complications after kidney transplantation. Other academic interests include understanding barriers in referral of patients with chronic kidney disease for kidney transplantation and exploring culturally sensitive ways to amend them.

His research has been published in the American Journal of Transplantation, the Journal of Clinical Hypertension, the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, and Advances in Chronic Kidney Disease.

Shah received his MBBS from Medical College Baroda in India. He completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, as well as fellowship training in nephrology and kidney transplantation at the University of Colorado.
