Katie O’Sullivan is an adult and pediatric endocrinologist whose clinical and research interests focus on preventing and managing obesity and type 2 diabetes in children, as well as improving the transition of adolescents with endocrine conditions from pediatric to adult health care providers. Her prior research investigated the relationship between sleep deprivation in adolescents and cardiovascular outcomes, including abnormalities of glucose and insulin homeostasis. In addition, she examined the incidence of obstructive sleep apnea in adolescents with type 2 diabetes.
O’Sullivan received a BS in biological sciences from the University of Notre Dame and an MD from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She completed her residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego, as well as fellowship training in adult and pediatric endocrinology at the University of Chicago Department of Medicine, Section of Adult and Pediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.
